We will host this for students of other faiths/ no faith, and it will involve a running commentary on what’s happening at Mass, and a brief reception for non-Catholic students afterwards in the lobby. Please plan on meeting and mixing with others, and invite any friends you’d like to introduce to your Catholic faith. We will not have a dinner like the other groups on campus –too many of us!!!

Holocaust Survivor at RIT: Warren Heilbronner will be speaking in Xerox Auditorium at 6pm this Thursday, April 15th. Come and listen to the story of a 1st survivor. As the years since the Holocaust grow, the number of 1st generation survivors becomes fewer. Please come and encourage your students to come, too, so that you and they may pass on their stories and say NEVER AGAIN.

Mr. Heilbronner was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1932, escaping with his parents and brother in March, 1939. He is a graduate of Perry High School, Cornell University and Columbia Law School. He is married to the former Joyce Aroeste (1961). They have three sons---Jerome, a Systems Annalist with Raytheon Corp.; Lawrence, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice-President of Operations at Canandaigua National Bank; and Kevin, insurance agent for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. and public address announcer for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association. Volunteer with Good Shepherd at Kateri Day Camp: Summer service opportunities for young, Catholic women. Kateri Day Camp is situated on over 250 acres on the Good Shepherd convent property. It provides a safe and wholesome country setting for at-risk, financially disadvantaged and handicapped children to attend summer camp. Children, ages 5-13, from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, enjoy cooperative games, sports, music, arts and crafts, field trips and nature study designed to promote self-respect, respect for others and for all living things. As a volunteer you will work one-on-one, supervise and assist a child with special or diverse needs. You will have the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a young person.

WEDDING JUBILEE MASS

Bishop Matthew Clark will preside at a Wedding Jubilee Mass to honor couples who have been married 25 years or more on Sunday May 16th at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester. A reception will follow the Mass to honor the attendees.

FR. RICHARD’S SPRING QUARTER OFFICE SCHEDULE: ROOM 1412 in the Center for Religious Life. Tuesday –Friday, 11:00-12:00am to 8:00-9:00pm.Monday is Fr. Richard’s usual day-off. Sometimes Fr. Richard is in meetings, teaching, the gym or off-campus outreach. It’s best to phone or email for an appointment. Contact information is in the header of Newman Notes. Be sure to check the Summer Calendar below for times when Fr. Richard is away on vacation or retreat.

INDIVIDUAL SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: Take your chances and Drop-in, or arrange to be there by phone or email to see Fr. Richard at his Center for Religious Life office (right across from the chapels), Room 1412. He’s usually there afternoons and evenings (see below).

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION:Contact Fr. Richard if you are interested in preparing to receive a sacrament (Confirmation, Matrimony, First Communion, First Reconciliation) or if you have questions or are interested in becoming a Catholic (including Baptism).
